Rachael got me a cool Tassimo coffee machine :D
It uses these little puck shaped disks with barcodes printed on them that the machine uses to govern it’s output – anything from deliciously tarry espresso, latte and caramel macchiato in-between.
Operation wise the designers have opted for a ‘one button does all‘ approach making it pretty fool-proof. The front of the unit lights up with pleasingly bright led icons during interaction. So far I’ve only had one disaster involving one of the creamer disks… I wasn’t sure if it was working right so I opened the top while the “Cup with a plus sign above it” was still flashing, which caused hot milk substitute to boil menacingly out of the top D:
It’s a one button learning curve.
There’s a program I found when googling ‘Tassimo Hacks’ that generates barcodes for the coffee pucks using your own parameters, I’m not sure what advantage this is yet but I’ll figure something out.
In 24 hours we’ve drank about £15 worth of various coffee, above we can see some of the many spent coffee pucks…
It’s ok we ordered a whole load more online \o/
