Some timeĀ ago I got my hands on several Robotis OLLO robotics kits to play with and I dutifully created several of the projects written in the provided educational guides. These are fun to make and satisfyingly Japanese in their execution (that is to say, powerful, precise but also cute).
Below we can see a basic line following robot (based on the Robotis CM-100 controller) which I spent hours trying to make look like the iconic Johnny Five from Short Circuit.
I think it came out quite well!
The hardest part of the build was hacking together pieces that would work for the front wheels, I didn’t have enough spare parts and Robotis equipment isn’t easily obtained.
You could make a great perimeter patrolling robot out of these parts if you hacked a pan tilt module on to body…
